Yellowmargin Moray

Gymnothorax flavimarginatus

Sighting evidence at Shark's Cove, Oahu

Yellowmargin morays occupy the deeper lava tube passages of Shark's Cove, their muscular bodies wedged into basalt crevices where they ambush crabs and fish venturing too close at dusk. The cave system's natural shelter makes it ideal moray habitat, and their presence throughout the rock network gives night divers some of the most dramatic close-encounter opportunities on Oahu's north shore.
