YO-257 Wreck

Oahu · United States

The YO-257 is a 180-foot former U.S. Navy fuel barge deliberately sunk in 1989 off Waikiki, now encrusted in a dense tapestry of hard and soft corals that rivals natural reef systems. Resident schools of bluestripe snapper and goatfish swirl through the superstructure while large green sea turtles rest on the deck, entirely untroubled by divers. The shallow maximum depth of 30 meters makes it accessible to open-water divers while still offering enough penetration opportunities to reward the more experienced.
