European lobsters inhabit cavities throughout the Breda's rusting hull, emerging at night to forage across the surrounding seabed. The protection from fishing afforded by the wreck environment allows individuals to reach exceptional sizes — large males with claws spanning 30 cm are regularly reported. These animals are intensely territorial and the spatial distribution of lobsters across the wreck is surprisingly regular, with dominant individuals claiming the most sheltered compartments.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
