SS Breda Wreck
Oban · United Kingdom
The SS Breda, a Dutch cargo steamer sunk in 1940, lies in two large sections on a gravel and mud seabed south of Oban, her intact cargo holds and engine room forming one of Scotland's premier wreck dives. Conger eels of impressive size have made the engine room their home, and large shoals of pollack circle the bow section in the gentle tidal drift. Plumose anemones transform the wreck's superstructure into a pale, otherworldly garden that glows brilliantly under dive torch light.
