The Breda's engine room and lower holds shelter multiple conger eels that have been observed at this wreck for many years, some exceeding 1.8 metres in length. These animals are typically tolerant of divers and will often emerge partially from their dens to investigate light sources. Congers are the apex fish predator on this wreck, and the health of the crab and lobster community within the structure is directly shaped by their hunting activity.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
