A pelagic apex predator that follows current boundaries and bait aggregations into the open ocean. Once extraordinarily abundant, oceanic whitetip populations have crashed by more than 95% across the Pacific and are now Critically Endangered. Encounters at Yabiji represent a rare opportunity to observe a species that has largely vanished from shallower, more accessible reefs.
