Dogtooth tuna are powerful, torpedo-shaped pelagics that rocket through the pass in pursuit of the fusiliers and small trevally concentrated by the current. They can reach 130 kilograms and move with a speed and purpose that makes them thrilling to observe, often appearing suddenly out of the blue water in a burst of acceleration before vanishing just as quickly. Their presence at the Entrance Bommie is a reliable sign that the current is running and conditions are optimal for pelagic encounters.
