Spotted eagle rays patrol the sandy channels and reef passes around Caja de Muertos in groups of 2–6, their polka-dotted backs making them instantly recognisable as they glide effortlessly across the bottom. They dig into the sand with their flat snouts searching for buried molluscs and crustaceans.
