Banded sea kraits are regularly encountered threading through the Keiten Maru's railings and open porthole frames, hunting moray eels and small fish in the narrow recesses of the superstructure. Though highly venomous, they are docile and generally ignore divers, continuing their hunting passes with fluid elegance through the wreck's tight spaces. Their regular presence is a distinctive feature of Rabaul wrecks that divers visiting from other regions find memorable.
