Keiten Maru
Rabaul · Papua New Guinea
The Keiten Maru is considered the most accessible wreck in Simpson Harbour, sitting upright in just 12 to 28 meters with its upper superstructure reaching well into recreational snorkelling depth. The relatively shallow maximum depth and gentle currents within the sheltered harbour make it an ideal introduction to wreck diving in Rabaul, yet the enormous schools of anthias and fusiliers cascading over the stern reward experienced divers equally. Artillery pieces remain on deck and the engine room is accessible with basic wreck-penetration training.
