Green sea turtles at Pulau Lima use the sandy inter-island flats as resting areas during the heat of the day, lying motionless on the bottom in a state of reduced metabolic activity that allows them to stay submerged for hours. They are also observed foraging on seagrass patches in the shallower channels, contributing to the nutrient cycling that sustains the surrounding coral community. Multiple individuals use Pulau Lima as a regular resting station throughout the diving season.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
