Hairy frogfish rest motionlessly on rubble and sponge patches near the cave entrance, relying on their elaborate skin filaments and color-matching camouflage to ambush small fish and shrimp. Their modified pectoral fins allow them to walk across the substrate rather than swim. Individual fish are often found returning to the same microhabitat over weeks or months, making reliable repeat sightings possible.

How is this calculated?
