Arrecife del Medio
Rosario Islands · Colombia
Arrecife del Medio is the flagship wall dive of the Rosario Islands, where a vertical coral cliff drops from 8 m on the reef crest to beyond 45 m at the base, draped in living tapestries of black coral trees and orange deepwater sea fans that glow under dive torches. The wall's overhangs shelter spotted moray eels, rock hinds, and Caribbean spiny lobsters, while the blue water off the wall produces reliable sightings of black-tip reef sharks and large amberjack. This is the most complete wall dive on the Colombian Caribbean coast — nutrient-rich currents sweeping along the wall fuel dense sponge gardens and attract a cross-section of both reef and pelagic species.
