Undulated moray eels are among the largest morays in the Indian Ocean, reaching 1.5 metres, and several large individuals are resident in the cannon-pile sections of the wreck. They hunt nocturnally but are reliably seen in their lair entries throughout the day, providing classic wreck-dive encounters. Despite their fearsome appearance, morays rarely bite unless provoked or hand-fed.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
