Mola mola congregate over Princess Alice Bank from July through October, drawn by the dense jellyfish blooms that the upwelling sustains. Individuals weighing over a tonne are regularly sighted drifting near the summit, apparently seeking cleaner fish among the few small reef fish that colonise the pinnacle. This seamount is one of only a handful of reliable mola aggregation sites in the North Atlantic.

Ocean Sunfish is listed as a curated species here based on historical reports.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
