Giant morays have moved into the larger void spaces within the artificial reef structure, becoming one of the most reliably photographed species at the site. They form mutualistic cleaning relationships with wrasse, holding their mouths open for extended periods while cleaner fish remove parasites and food debris. Their role as nocturnal apex predators of fish and octopus helps regulate the reef's trophic structure.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
