Multiple nurse sharks have adopted the artificial reef as a permanent home, using the gaps between concrete modules as resting dens throughout the day. Their sedentary daytime behaviour makes close observation straightforward, and night divers often witness their active nocturnal hunting, using muscular suction to extract crustaceans and small fish from crevices. The reef's design includes deliberate void spaces that mimic natural coral caves, providing exactly the shelter this species requires.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
