Curious and sociable, spadefish hover in loose shoals around the upper superstructure of the wreck, often approaching divers to investigate bubbles and reflective gear. They feed on jellyfish, soft corals, and invertebrates that settle on wreck surfaces, and their disc-shaped bodies and bold vertical stripes make them unmistakable. The Saint-Louis wreck supports one of the more reliable spadefish aggregations on the Senegalese coast.
