Bull sharks are apex predators that thrive in warm, coastal waters and are drawn to the Yongala by the dense baitfish aggregations sheltering in the wreck structure. They are robust, thick-bodied sharks that frequently cruise in close to divers, offering some of the most intimate large-shark encounters in Australian waters. A resident group of several individuals maintains a year-round presence at the bow.
