Blacktip reef sharks are apex predators that regulate reef fish populations and maintain ecosystem balance on Tioman's reefs. They are most active at dawn and dusk, patrolling the sandy flats and channel margins around Renggis in groups of two to five individuals. Their presence indicates a healthy, well-functioning reef ecosystem within the marine park boundary.
