Napoleon wrasse are the reef's gentle giants, using their powerful jaws to consume molluscs and sea urchins that would otherwise damage coral structure. Individuals at Renggis are often habituated to divers and will approach curiously, offering remarkable close-up encounters. This IUCN-vulnerable species benefits from Tioman's no-take marine park protections, with multiple large adults resident year-round.
