Wall-top current aggregations of bigeye trevally form dense, rotating cylinders of several hundred fish that divers can swim inside. The school reforms around a stationary diver, creating one of the most immersive underwater photography experiences on the wall. In the afternoon, schools disperse and individuals scatter across the reef to hunt. Their abundance here reflects the intact food web that Tubbataha's World Heritage protection maintains.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
