French Angelfish

Monogamous pairs of French angelfish patrol the coral heads of Trunk Bay, grazing on sponges and tunicates that encrust the reef framework. Their bold black-and-yellow scaling makes them among the most recognisable residents, and they are notably unafraid of divers, often approaching within arm's reach. Juveniles serve as cleaning-station attendants, picking parasites from larger reef fish.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
