Trunk Bay
US Virgin Islands · United States Virgin Islands
One of the Caribbean's most photographed beaches, Trunk Bay on St. John harbors a 225-metre underwater snorkel trail managed by the National Park Service with labeled coral formations guiding divers through a living reef classroom. Elkhorn and staghorn coral patches shelter French angelfish and Spanish hogfish, while spotted eagle rays cruise the sandy lanes beyond the trail markers. The calm, clear shallows make this an exceptional site for new divers and underwater photographers chasing sharp macro shots in natural light.
