Spotted eagle rays sweep through the sandy flats flanking the reef at Trunk Bay, using their blunt snouts to excavate buried molluscs and crustaceans. Their polka-dot patterning renders them unmistakable as they bank and glide in the thermocline. Encounters are typically fleeting but regular, especially on calm-water mornings before boat traffic builds.
