Laganas Bay
Zakynthos · Greece
Laganas Bay forms the core of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, a sweeping arc of protected water where loggerhead turtles feed, rest, and nest across seagrass meadows and sandy channels throughout the year. Divers exploring the bay encounter turtles at close range alongside a diverse supporting cast of bream, mullet, cuttlefish and rays gliding over posidonia beds in water ranging from 5 to 20 metres. The park's strict speed-limit zones and anchor-free rules mean the seagrass habitat is in unusually good condition for the central Mediterranean.
