Amed & Jemeluk Bay
Indonesia · Bali
A string of fishing villages on Bali's northeast coast where black volcanic sand slopes drop into one of the island's most rewarding macro and wreck environments. Jemeluk Bay shelters a colourful coral garden and a Japanese fishing boat wreck encrusted in soft coral, while the adjacent slopes are prime hunting ground for frogfish, ghost pipefish, and flamboyant cuttlefish. Amed sits about 10 kilometres south of Tulamben and shares the same upwelling-cooled, nutrient-rich water of the Lombok Strait, producing exceptional visibility on calm days. Shore entry throughout keeps costs low and dive-at-your-own-pace flexibility high.
