Underwater reef at Astola Island
Thriving

Astola Island

Pakistan · Arabian Sea

Known locally as Haft Talar (Seven Hills), Astola is Pakistan's only offshore island and one of the most remote dive destinations in Asia. Sitting in the northern Arabian Sea roughly 40 kilometres from the Balochistan coast, it sees almost no recreational dive traffic. The reefs are in exceptional condition: nurse sharks rest under ledges, hawksbill turtles cruise the walls, spinner dolphins ride the bow waves of the boats that bring you here, and the macro life is extraordinary. Getting here requires genuine expedition planning, but the payoff is a pristine, almost entirely unexplored underwater environment.
