Common Dentex

Dentex dentex

Sighting evidence at Pabuç Burnu Wreck Site, Bodrum

Dentex patrol the open water above and around the wreck site in hunting groups of 3 to 12 individuals, using the elevated structure as a landmark and the associated baitfish concentrations as a food source. Their powerful build, forked tail, and prominent canine teeth make them unmistakable, and close encounters at depth are a regular highlight of wreck dives here. They are more active in the early morning before dive traffic builds.
