Paleokastritsa Wall
Corfu · Greece
Paleokastritsa on Corfu's northwest coast is famous above water for its monastery-crowned headland, but below the surface the underwater cliff faces and boulder gardens that ring the bay are equally dramatic. The wall begins at 8 metres and drops to 28 metres before giving way to a sloping gravel plain, its faces completely draped in yellow and red encrusting sponges broken by sea fan colonies and swaying corallium formations. It is one of the most visually rich dives in the Ionian and the most accessible from Corfu's well-established dive centre infrastructure.
