Underwater at Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock

Corn Islands · Nicaragua

Blowing Rock is a surge-cut volcanic outcrop on the northeastern tip of Little Corn, its caverns and surge channels making for a kinetic dive completely unlike the gentle reef sites on the sheltered west. When the trade winds blow and swell rolls in, compressed air vents through crevices with an audible hiss — the phenomenon that gives the site its name. Giant barracuda haunt the outer edges and moray eels pack every crevice.
