Fan colonies up to a metre across drape the wreck's upper superstructure and surrounding rocky seabed, providing habitat for tiny gobies and brittle stars. These slow-growing colonies indicate the site has been undisturbed for many decades. Their vivid crimson fans photograph spectacularly against the cobalt water column above.
