Denise's pygmy seahorse reaches only 2.4 cm and lives exclusively on Muricella sea fans, its skin tubercles matching the fan's polyp texture so precisely that experienced guides use a pointer to indicate their position. On Meno Wall several fan colonies at 28 m to 35 m host resident individuals, making this one of the more reliable pygmy seahorse sites in Lombok Strait without a boat crossing to deeper Indo-Pacific reefs.

Denise's pygmy seahorse is listed as a curated species here based on historical reports.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
