Brijuni Islands
Istria · Croatia
The Brijuni National Park archipelago sits just off Fažana and protects a stretch of northern Adriatic that sees far less fishing pressure than the open coast — visibility regularly reaches 25 metres and the seagrass meadows and rocky reefs teem with grouper, sea bream, and common bottlenose dolphins that regularly join divers below the surface. Roman shipwreck anchors and amphora scatter the sandy channels between islands, adding a quiet archaeology layer to a dive already rich in fish life. The protected status means fish are noticeably larger and bolder than at unprotected sites nearby.
