Cuttlefish are among the most cognitively sophisticated cephalopods — capable of instant colour change, polarised light communication, and cooperative hunting. In the shallow mixed habitat at Savudrija they hover over seagrass and rock, using their eight arms and two tentacles to ambush shrimp and small fish. Spring is spawning season; egg clusters attached to gorgonian branches are frequently visible from April through June.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
