Savudrija Wall
Istria · Croatia
The Savudrija peninsula at Croatia's northwestern tip drops into a surprisingly biodiverse wall that benefits from cooler upwellings and proximity to the Trieste current — red gorgonians, yellow sponges, and dense fields of sea urchin cover the vertical limestone face from 10 to 40 metres. Small bays shelter octopus and cuttlefish in the shallows, making the site productive from snorkel depth all the way to a sandy bottom scattered with sea stars. It is Istria's best pure reef dive for macro and gorgonian photography, often overlooked in favour of the famous wrecks.
