Flabellina Nudibranch

Flabellina affinis

Sighting evidence at Sivota Bay, Lefkada

Vivid purple Flabellina nudibranchs are among the most photogenic macro subjects at Sivota, appearing on hydroids and encrusted rock surfaces from late spring through early autumn. They are specialist predators of hydroids and sequester the stinging cells of their prey for their own defence. The diversity of nudibranch species throughout Sivota Bay reflects the richness and productivity of the encrusting invertebrate community.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
