Sound of Mull
Oban · United Kingdom
The Sound of Mull is a narrow deep channel between the Isle of Mull and the Scottish mainland, its fast tidal currents creating upwellings that fuel extraordinary biomass. Dense communities of dead man's fingers, plumose anemones, and feather stars coat the rocky walls, while large Atlantic cod and pollack patrol the mid-water. The Sound contains multiple dive sites ranging from sheltered bays to exposed points where drift diving in the tide rush delivers sightings of basking sharks in summer.
