Mustique Wall
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines · Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
The eastern wall of Mustique island descends from a healthy coral crest at 8 metres into deep water beyond 40 metres, its face studded with enormous sea fans, black coral thickets, and ledges sheltering resting nurse sharks and spotted eagle rays. Mustique's small resident dive operation and very limited visitor access have kept this wall in exceptional condition — coral coverage is high, fish biomass is dense, and encounters with large animals are the norm rather than the exception. Caribbean reef sharks are regularly seen cruising the deeper sections of the wall, and schooling horse-eye jacks form silver tornadoes in the blue water adjacent to the reef crest.
