Bookends
Tobago · Trinidad and Tobago
Two symmetrical volcanic rock pinnacles rise from 28 metres to just below the surface, creating the illusion of giant bookends when viewed from depth. The walls of each pinnacle are encrusted with black coral trees, deep-water sea fans, and clouds of glassy sweepers that part and reform as divers pass through. Between the pinnacles, an open-water channel funnels current and regularly delivers hammerhead sharks and large amberjack in the cooler months.
