Wreck of the Secchia
Ustica Island · Italy
The Secchia is an Italian cargo vessel that sank in the early 20th century and now lies on its side at 38 m on a sandy slope to the south of Ustica, its hull thoroughly colonised by sponge, gorgonian, and encrusting coral. The wreck is large enough to explore over multiple dives — the holds, the engine room visible through a collapsed section of hull, and the stern where a huge resident moray has made her home for at least a decade.
