Bawean Island
Indonesia · Southeast Asia
Bawean Island sits in the Java Sea roughly halfway between Java and Kalimantan, and remains one of Indonesia's least-dived destinations. Its remote position has preserved pristine coral gardens, dramatic walls, and dense schooling fish populations. The island is home to the critically endangered Bawean deer on land and shelters endemic and rarely documented marine species underwater. Infrastructure is minimal, attracting only the most adventurous divers.
