Sogod Bay is one of the Philippines' most remarkable year-round whale shark destinations, with resident populations gathering around Padre Burgos and Pintuyan on virtually every day of the year. The bay's deep, nutrient-rich waters also attract thresher sharks, manta rays, and an extraordinary density of macro life on its volcanic rubble slopes. Largely off the radar of mass tourism, Southern Leyte delivers world-class pelagic encounters alongside healthy hard coral gardens and steep walls draped in sea fans — all with tiny crowds and genuine remoteness.
