Conger eels reach formidable sizes in the wreck structure at Pabuç Burnu, with individuals exceeding 1.5 metres routinely encountered in the deeper sections of the site. They are apex reef predators that shelter in amphora cavities and hull remnants by day, emerging at dusk to hunt fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods. Their presence in the wreck is a sign of the structure's maturity as an artificial reef habitat.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
