Underwater at Henningsvær

Henningsvær

Lofoten Islands · Norway

Henningsvær sits on a cluster of small islets connected by bridges and is Lofoten's most vibrant fishing village, with underwater topography as dramatic as the skyline above — jagged reefs, vertical walls, and boulder fields plunge into cold, exceptionally clear water. The site is celebrated for one of the highest nudibranch diversities in northern Europe, with over 40 species recorded in the surrounding waters. Schools of Atlantic cod gather here from winter through spring, accompanied by saithe, pollock, and the occasional wolf fish patrolling the kelp edge.
