Long-snouted seahorses are resident in the Posidonia meadows adjacent to the wall, where they anchor to seagrass blades with their prehensile tails and ambush tiny crustaceans. The meadows provide both feeding grounds and shelter from predators, with males carrying developing young in their brood pouch from spring through late summer. This species is protected under Annex II of the Bern Convention and is an important indicator of seagrass ecosystem health.
