Seriola dumerili is the Mediterranean's premier pelagic game fish and an apex predator that uses the Prasonisi current convergence zone as a hunting corridor. Schools of 10 to 30 individuals often circle drift divers at the plateau edge, using divers' bubbles as disorientation cover while herding sardines and bogue against the reef face. Juveniles shelter near floating debris and jellyfish bells, while adults exceeding 40 kg patrol the blue water beyond the wall — a size class rarely encountered at more sheltered sites.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
