Chagville Point on Trinidad's northwest peninsula is the island's premier open-water reef dive, where a rocky headland drops to a rubble slope at 25 meters hosting nurse sharks, spotted eagle rays, and occasional southern stingrays. The point catches upwelling from the Columbus Channel which brings nutrients and good visibility on outgoing tides, and the hard coral communities here are less affected by Orinoco sediment than sites further south. Mornings see eagle rays cruising the slope in pairs while yellowfin goatfish root through the rubble below.
