Greater amberjack appear in significant numbers from spring through autumn, attracted by the strong currents that funnel food past the reef. These fast-moving pelagics hunt cooperatively, herding smaller fish against the reef face before striking. Juveniles shelter within Posidonia meadows before maturing into open-water hunters.
